Herpes Simplex 2 – Genital Herpes

Genital herpes is the second type under the classification of herpes simplex. This is a venerial and genital disease. That is completely different from oral herpes and you get infected with this when you have sex with partner that has contracted genital herpes and it is also possible that they may not even know that they have. This does not matter if they are showing symptoms or signs. These types of herpes are more severe in that once you have contracted it there is no cure at all. There are treatments and testing that can be done to see if you have it. Or if you have this type of herpes you can know what treatments are available.

Common Symptoms

For testing there are clinics and your doctor will be the best places to go to. In a national study, it has been found that women more than men contract genital herpes. Symptoms to look for are blisters and sores that occur in the genital area and the buttocks. This shows as redness and even bleeding may occur. People that show no signs or symptoms don’t know they have contracted it until there partner finds out that they have it. Medical treatments are available, but there is not a one size fits all. Consider this as any other illness you may have to try out a few treatment options before finding one that works for you and the severity of genital herpes that you have.

Genital herpes in highly contagious so you want to take all the preventive measures to not spread it to anyone else. Even if you are not experiencing any outbreaks does not mean that you do not have it anymore. Support groups are also available online and where you live so call around and look online. Your doctor may be able to assist you in finding the right support group as well. Even people that have genital herpes experience the need to be able to talk to others that are going through the same thing. Living with genital herpes can cause stress, anxiety, and the feeling of wanting to isolate you from others. Having a good support system helps you to better manage living with genital herpes.

Other Symptoms

Other symptoms for genital herpes can also show up as flu like symptoms. The only way to know for sure is to get tested. You want to seek ways to lessen the amount of outbreaks that you are experiencing; meaning changing things that you do every day will assist you with your outbreaks to lessen. Preventative measures that you can take that are simple is wear protection or ask your partner to wear protection to reduce spreading of this sexually transmitted disease (STD). When wearing protection makes sure that you and your partner has cleaned themselves properly, that there are no torn areas on the condom.

You can help them by becoming educated on genital herpes, but do not come across as you know what they are going through if you do not have genital herpes. That can cause an undue amount of stress to the person that you are talking to.  No one wants to get an (STD) especially this one or any other.

Something to think about to you can also contact this through performing oral sex as well. The preventive measure for that would be to not do oral sex with someone that you think or know has genital herpes. That is the simplest way to prevent getting genital herpes in your mouth. Various medications out there are valtrex, zovirax, and papain. You want to speak with your doctor to see which and what medications are best for you with your symptoms and outbreaks. Medication will help with decreasing the amount of outbreaks that you may be having. Going to the hospital the same applies there and let them know exactly how sever the outbreak is so that they do not misdiagnose it.

Care is better than treatment

No one wants to go to the hospital to seek medical attention and have them get it wrong due to miscommunication between you and them.
